Media Museum Babies…
Got to some galleries today – at the Media Museum two exhibitions on babies. Some gorey pics of childbirth started things off, then a very large number of pics of babies and young children. Most of note photos generally by fashion and celebrity photographers – I don’t know if babies are really that interesting to people outside immediate family.
Then at Impressions, a very good exhibition from the Jerwood Photography awards. Images drawn from experiences of a Finnish island by Martina Lindqvist were spooky and dark. Kurt Tongs images of fading parks in China which reminded him of visiting similar parks in Hong Kong when young were great – 3 images in particular. Nicky Walsh’s subtle tones from images of everyday objects in working environments – translucent screens were quite beautiful in a minimal way.
Also at Impressions was a small exhibition of photos taken by young people – I’d say around 15? years old – some great shots – amazing work.
