3D sharks – IMAX

The IMAX … not been for a long time, so 3D sharks attracted my attention … the ticket lady seemed amused by question is it full, the guy showing me in seemed surprised I had turned up … and the cinema … well I was the only person for the showing. Very sad, and made me think what the IMAX needs are some shows for older than kids for these late showings. The film was for kids – introduced by a turtle, the 3D effect did work well at times like when floating through a huge field of tiny jellyfish, but at other times my eyes just gave up. The sharks were discussed as being extremely benign, not the killers of the sea we normally see … somehow it wasn’t quite JAWS and a little dissappointing, and also expensive at £6.50 for a 3/4 hr show. Having said that, the sensation of being underwater in an almost working 3d landscape was pretty good, and I just hope they don’t keep providing toned down features – it could have been so much better if aimed a little older.
