Spunge, Cockpit

Tuesday, got a ticket to Spunge – excellent ska punk band I’ve had a CD for of for a while. Filled a couple of hours before the gig by seeing the Bill Murray film – that’s pretty good. Got to the gig about 8. The support were playing, a sort of metally punk crossover affair. They were shite. I seriously wondered why I was bothering. But anyway I had a pint of Grolsh in my hand and that needed drinking. The gig was at the Cockpit in Leeds. An excellent place, in a railway tunnel. I’m not sure why we never went there when younger, maybe coz it was in Leeds. Spunge came on – they were about 30 I reckon, 5 of them. The gig was immediately jumping – great dancing skanking music – or if your an old codger like me, bouncing on your heels music. They just played some great songs, and in between had some funny repartee and camaraderie like using old spice to treat a poorly arse. Nice one!

Ah, Peroni – who needs Asda Beer de Luxe when you can go upmarket at the Coop …

New on the website – a tool for solving Sudoku – or at least the easier ones at the moment. Kinda curious about how difficult Sudoku was, I thought I’d give it a bash. Worked out two techniques, which are in the program, it could solve the Guardian easy and some moderate problems, but it was sticking with the ‘diabolical’ problems on the Telegraph site. Still quite an interesting exercise, and a good reason to do some Delphi.

Clips on the train about 12th night at Leeds West Yorkshire Playhouse:

‘When she first came on, I thought thats my kind of woman’

‘I didn’t understand a word they were saying, but the facial expressions and movement were brilliant’
