Biffy Clyro – best tracks from their session 2 years ago – nice beards
Nine Black Alps – couldn’t get in the tent, though sounded ok
Juliette and the Licks – missed Juliette’s crazy crowdsurfing on the last song, told it was the best bit bah!
The Kills – poor mans PJ Harvey
Dinosaur Jnr – God isn’t he old now, no stage charisma but good to hear some of his classics live. Closest I got to main stage, nice atmos
Funfair ride – so scary when my restrainer didn’t shut properly and then the mad ride started…
Be Your Own Pet – phwar – kinda liked this set
Charlatans – Donner kebab more interesting
Razorlight - Pataks Chicken massala (£4.95) definitely more interesting
Kings of Leon – spoiled by half the set being pretty boring, but the good stuff was excellent (not sure about Daves comment that he puts them in the same category as the Pixies)
Foo Fighters – Dave Grohl ‘can scream louder than the crowd’ – definitely a bit of a nutter, didn’t know their music, but was entertained, the recent single was the highpoint, and Dan gave us free glow sticks to wave

A passionate kiss
A passionate kiss is like a spider’s web…it leads to the undoing of flies

Sometimes its good to have a sort…this has been a sorting week…photography, clothes, magazines & books, old collected travel guides, just loads of old junk…and its all gone now…

Wedding Crashers. I’ve decided going to the pics with your sister is a bit like going with your mum. Quite embarrassing during the rude bits, and quite a relief when they come out and say it wasn’t all bad.

Edinburgh Fringe
Edinburgh Fest – the streets are much the same as ever but still entertaining, jugglers, swordswallowing, stock still figures until you pay them – the crowds reactions to this is more entertaining than the acts themselves I find. Still the acts aren’t just about the activities more about the repartee I think. I see the Cartier Bresson exhibition at the Dean Gallery – a big exhibition and I find my photography tutors slagging off of him not 100% justified. There are classic pictures there – not for me the portraits of his arts circle, or his perfect moment portraits, but some of his more journalistic street scenes are good. His humour is gentler than Parr’s but still some photos make me laugh.
Traquair Fair has the same magical element with the fairytale house and bizarre figures wandering around amongst the hippy stalls. Trying your hand at stilt walking and mono cycling is good if impossible, the queue for the childrens’ face painting is mellowed out by Traquair ale. The half naked mans act is novel, especially when he hammers a genuine 4 inch nail up his nostril.
Maybe the best days you have on holiday are the unexpected? For me was the walk I decided to do from the end of Holy Island causeway to Berwick. Varied beautiful coastal scenery and dodging the thunderstorms make it a good day.

Suspected bombs at Bradford and York stations disrupt the trains. But it means the train I get on goes to the station near my home, instead of 2 miles down the road, so not all is bad. It means I get to the pub 15 mins earlier!
