Bill Bryson – Down Under

25. Reading Bill Bryson’s Down Under book – Bryson comes close to being naff quite a lot in this book, I don’t like his turn of phrase, and he gives me a very sketchy and unsatisfactory view of the locations he visits. He seems to be little more than a tourist himself. He does attempt to put over his enthusiasm for some things – such as for the stromatolites – one of the earliest living things, but this guy has little of the wit of even someone like Billy Connelly. I read a third of the book, and am looking for something better.

24. Find some bargains at the Charity Shop nearby – J.G. Ballard, a book about America looks interesting, and a video of early (and later but I dont like these) Jam performances … why did the Jam have to go crap half way through their career I always wondered.

Started preparing for my next ozzy trip – reading ‘Australian Popular Culture’ – just hope not every chapter is about vegemite.

22. When is this summer going to end – yet another fantastic day – bring on global warming!!! ;-) Wine and reading about other arts colleges courses – where should I have gone, but its too late now, and no regrets. Listening to Spoon – Spank is featuring a few of their songs, have to have a look. Alkaline Trio is sounding good too after a few glasses of wine.

21. Have a crazy dream where my brains are blown out by a rasta in Morrisons – wake up to find a more peaceful website to look at: Italy Explore It has nice 360 panaramas of Florence and Venice. Am listening to Kleenex Girl Wonder – Aint going anywhere soon (how ironic) on Spank Radio. The guy has written his ideas behind the 360 photgraphs also here

20. Sad day today – I scrap my new car – I only owned it a month – then the dreaded MOT struck – bah! And got not a penny for it. Play games at Retrobase to cheer myself up – they are mainly java and a bit one dimensional, but tailgunner keeps me interested longest. Listening to sad music by Evan Dando – Live at Brattle Theatre today in keeping with the death of my car.
